Currently I am an elected member of the Scottish Pharmacy Board.
What made me stand for election?
Well, like many others I wanted to see my professional body really advance pharmacy like many other professions such as medicine and nursing. But I felt not enough was being done. So I thought “put your money where your mouth is” and stood for election after serving a short time as a co-opted member.
I am really proud to be a pharmacist, and pharmacy in Scotland is really pushing for a clinical role in community as well as hospital, which is exciting, but for me there are real life frustrations when other people don’t realise what pharmacist can do. That’s where the professional leadership body can help in my opinion. I know that’s what I would be supporting.
