What's exciting about the new Professional Leadership Body?

Chatting to colleagues I realise that people are disillusioned with the society but that they’re also open to persuasion about sticking with it in its new form, the professional Leadership Body or PLB as it’s known as. How do you excite people about what the PLB is going to do?  There are going to be a lot of new services, but how can we best get this across in terms of what they’ll be and how it’ll help members? And how can we get this across without sounding like we’re preaching?

I think the Local Practice forums are a really good start that gives us the members a chance to start with a clean slate and say what we want for the future. The idea is that it’s the members through this forum that can feed into the National Boards and so influence the journey ahead. As the National board we need to make sure we are engaged with these groups and support their development.  At the first few meetings of the east of Scotland of interested groups I was really encouraged by the number of people who have come forward to work on and develop areas for their colleagues such as advanced and specialist practice and CPD support and guidance.  I am also glad to learn however that locally we don’t need to work on this in isolation as HQ ( it’s not Lambeth as we know it!) is working really hard to develop services that members will value such as the Information Advisory Service. Webinars are also being developed for all sectors so that new technology is being integrated into how we access our learning needs and information.
