Question:

A 19 year old woman using Implanon for three months is still experiencing irregular bleeding for about five days of the week and has had enough.

I referred the patient back to her GP and have heard that the surgery prescribes Microgynon 30 to try to settle bleeding.

Have you come across this before?

Contraception and migraine

Question:

I have come across a patient who suffered migraines with the combined oral contraceptive (the migraines seemed to be connected to the menstrual cycle) who has now switched to Depo-provera. The migraines have become less frequent as a result, but still occur in association with her period (she still has monthly bleeds).

Use of doxycycline

Question:
I haven't come across the use of doxycycline as you describe on page 390 (in the box), but I notice it has a subscript '1' against it: will this be referenced in the second article? Can you help me to follow this one up a bit?
Thank you.
