Recently on of the mulitples introduced a different order and delivery system for P-medicines.
The procedure is the following:
P-meds demand gets calculated and allocated for each individual store and then send to a different department in that store out of the pharmacy hours, lets say 5-6am in the morning. Those meds will then be collected or send to the pharmacy during the day. Meds are kept in transparent bags with a sticker on it "pharmacy".
Basically, the RPS (law/ethics) told me that the owner/superintendent has to put procedures in place to keep supply chain secure, and if this is the case, the above procedure is legal.
Well, now of course, as expected, P-meds got send to other deparments and the "untrained" person wanted to put in on the shelfs. Please note, not IN pharmacy, which means P-meds would be amongs GSL meds.
Next to that the procedures in place are not secure enough, my concern is whether it would be essentially within the RP regulations in respect that it is still within my responsibilities for the secure and safe running of the pharmacy?
I feel that is completely beyond my skills and powers, especially as a locum and it would be rediculous to assume that I still would be liable for it.
I appreciate any comment and advice. Thank you.
