Webinars dealing with topics associated with mental health disorders

I have just received a newsletter from RPS for Webinars dealing with topics associated with mental health disorders. This costs £5 per session for RPS members and £20 for non-RPS members. If this is the central approach to CPD, then i am not impressed. RPS membership gets you a discount and the ability to write a comment complaining (obviously non-RPS members can not read this). The reason i was going to stay an RPS member was on the grounds that CPD/education from the RPS would be a big incentive. Now RPS show their true colours, make what money they can. In a word disappointing.

Fee for CPD

You can get a free training pack from the CPPE or WCPPE. This is how I have been ploughing on freely with my CPD.

I agree totally. We pay

I agree totally.

We pay our fee and now we have to pay for Professional Development.

If I need clinical training - I'll probably go to CPPE.  If I need support - I'll probably go to PDA.

As an industrial pharmacist with community locum work, I think these two bodies will meet my needs.

Would anyone from the RPS like to persuade me why I should maintain MRPharmS?

Responding to member feedback

Dear Ian, Luso and Tony,

Many thanks for your feedback on the webinars. We received a number of similar comments from members about the mental health series and therefore took the decision to make the webinars free to members but with a charge for non-members. The first of the series was "attended" by over 130 members and received excellent feedback. The second in the series - Depression - is on 24 February. You can find out more about the series and book on the webinars by following this http://www.rpharms.com/development/webinars.asp

This is just one of many tangible and intangible benefits that the Society is now delivering for members. Many of these activities are new to the Society and are only possible because of the fantastic dedication and commitment of members themselves, sharing their knowledge and experience with other members. In this respect the Society is becoming a true Society again having transferred its regulatory functions to the GPhC 27 Sept 2010.You may find the links below of interest as they lay out the benefits that your new Society is delivering and planning to deliver for you including the new support service. I have also included a link to testimonials from a range of members as to why they are staying with the Society, and examples of recent activity and press coverage.
