The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) is the statutory regulator of pharmacists and pharmacies in the Republic of Ireland. The PSI carries out this function in the interests of public health and patient safety.

The Position
A vacancy has arisen for the full-time position of Inspector (Enforcement Unit) at the PSI in the Republic of Ireland. This position arises at a time of significant and ongoing developments in the regulation of pharmacy. The purpose of this position is to coordinate and/or conduct inspections /investigations referred by the Head of Inspection and Enforcement Unit in line with the processes and procedures of the Inspection and Enforcement Unit, the provisions of the Pharmacy Act 2007 and/or other relevant legislation.

An attractive remuneration package in line with professional pharmacist scales as approved by the Department of Health & Children is available for the successful candidate and will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

The Successful Candidate
Ideally, the successful candidate will have a qualification in pharmacy or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years post-registration/post-qualification experience. A proven track record in carrying out inspections /investigations/audits preferably in pharmacy or pharmacy related activities is desirable. Candidates for this post must have a capacity to conduct enquiries, obtain information and use sound judgment to reach conclusions with excellent analytical skills.  Proficiency in ICT is required. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and/or databases together with knowledge of forensics, particularly relating to pharmacy is also desirable. The successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a strong commitment to the purpose and ethos of patient care and safety within which the PSI operates.
