Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britian
Professional Standards Inspector
- Northern Region -
Fixed-term contract, until January 2010
Competitive salary dependent on skills and experience
Due to a forthcoming vacancy an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Society's team of inspectors. You will be joining the team at a challenging time, as the Inspectorate has recently taken on additional responsibilities in relation to a recent decision by the Society's Council where less serious complaints against pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will be dealt with via the Society's Inspectorate rather than being referred to its Investigating Committee.
This flexible job allows you to be primarily based at home and involves travel to and from pharmacies and other premises as required.
The Society's Inspectors are responsible for ensuring compliance with
legislation which affects the retail sale or supply of medicines, and for
maintaining and developing high standards of professional practice.
Inspectors are required to undertake monitoring (including Controlled Drugs) and inspection of registered pharmacies and conduct investigations into complaints received.
Applicants must be highly motivated, be able to demonstrate high standards of practice and be able to promote the interests of the profession and the public.
Inspectors are required to work closely with other agencies including Primary Care Organisations and the police, and must develop a knowledge and understanding of relevant criminal law and procedures. The Inspectors may also be required to represent the Society at external meetings.
Candidates must be pharmacists and should have a significant level of
practical pharmacy experience after registration.
For an informal discussion or further information about the job please contact Lynsey Cleland on 020 7572 2661.
In return for working 35 hours per week, we offer 25 days holiday pa, a
company car, private healthcare, and a Group Stakeholder pension plan.
To apply for this position you must submit a covering letter with a full CV
and an application form, stating your current salary. A detailed job
description/application form and further information can be found on our
