Pharmaceuticals in Africa
Pharmacists are invited to share their experience of rural medical facilities in developing countries, including advice on equipment and pharmaceutical requirements for a viable basic operation of a small clinic in an Ethiopian village, and the feasibility of accessing a reliable supply chain operated by a major pharmaceutical company. Trek for cancer
Action for Charity is seeking individuals to take part in a five-day trek in the Atlas Mountains of Morroco to raise money for two cancer research organisations, Wellbeing of Women and Prostate Action.
Initiatives
Harrow Carers sets up display stalls at pharmacies in Harrow to identify carers who could benefit from the charity's services. Further information from the website.

The Co-operative Pharmacy raised £100,000 for UNICEF at a charity dinner on 24 September 2010. UNICEF UK ambassador, Ewan McGregor, thanked The Co-operative Pharmacy for supporting the charity and helping to champion the issue of sanitation through its involvement with a UNICEF community development project in Togo, West Africa.

Anthony Nolan Trust
Members of the pharmacy department at Ipswich Hospital took part in the Suffolk Coast bike ride on 8 August to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust. Their efforts are in honour of their friend and colleague, pharmacist Tina Islam (nee Burton), who was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2007 and was recently found a donor through the charity. London marathon 2010
Martin Sawer, executive director of the
British Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, ran the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Donations via the JustGiving website.

Medical donations for Haiti appeal
Pain killers, antibiotics and bandages are in urgent demand to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake, according to International Health Partners that provides donated medicines to areas of most need around the world

NSPCC
Roy Henstock, community pharmacist from Huddersfield ran two half marathons (20 and 27 September 2009) for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Donations via the Just Giving website.
