Understaffing

Too many dispensary assistants are being fast tracked ,due to staff turnover ,and do not have sufficient experience to cope in a busy dispensary .

understaffing

Staff are being cut and if someone is on holiday there is no replacement. There is too much pressure put on staff and it is dangerous to operate in such a busy dispensary.

I agree

I agree 100% with these two comments especially about dispensers being fast tracked and some even becoming ACT's far far too early in their careers without any real work experience!

It is all very well

It is all very well expressing these concerns but without an effective body that can actually make a difference, its all lovey-duvey stuff that might as well happen only in an ideal world. As a locum, working in a well staffed pharmacy these days are bit of a hit and miss. When i do come across an understaffed pharmacy, i dont know who i should turn to to get help. Plus there is a risk that you might be seen as 'inefficient' to companies when you raise an alarm and therefore be refused future bookings. I see pharmacists getting pressured more and more from both the patients and the managements and it is very frustrating, to say the least, to feel that there is no-one really can make a difference. This pressure cooking environment is just a perfect recipe for a disaster waiting to happen and the pharmacists should be able to address the concerns and get some results from it without intimidation.

Nobody thinks

Once upon a time a Big Pharmacy like Alliance Boots was bought by an American Chain called Walgreens, and the Businesses of selling pills turned in an ideal world of Health for all . If the economic crisis affects Banks and everything, why the understaffing don´t affect the Pharmacy. I Think that the Pharmacists need to stop and think about where this crazy world leads us. The conflict of interests does´t work out in this history. Pharmacists need to think about patients and not customers. less business in the profession.

dispensers being ACTs

Dispensers CAN'T be ACTs...have to be a registered Techncian now...check the GPhC if you aren't sure and as for being a called a Techncian an NVQ level 2 doesn't count...if they are rightfully a Techncian then please call them as such as dispensers don't have the same in depth knowledge and training,,,off my horse now!
