There is nothing on the list that would lead me to spend £192 TBH. I will remain a member and continue for as long as the anti-RS electees are in power - if they are usurped or the beast that was (is) the RPSGB hasn't been tamed, then I'm afraid that I'm out.

From my perspective as a community locum pharmacist, the Society is the only organisation at this time that could provide the leadership on the professional stage, working in conjunction with other representative bodies to offer us any hope of professionalising our role and our working conditions and of raising our status relative to fellow healthcare professional disciplines. As such I will be retaining my membership to allow the new national Boards time to demonstrate such value following the demerger, and urge all pharmacists to do likewise.

I suppose it is difficult for me to imagine not having a professional body. Who else will speak for pharmacists? There are many excellent groups and bodies, but they do not speak for all pharmacists. This is the one body which can unite the profession, which can address all those issues of grave concern to its members and which has the standing to be listened to when it speaks.
Yes we have got to show you how we are going to do it, yes we have got to demonstrate that every member does count and it is different now from before, but I promise you there will not be a single stone left unturned in our efforts to produce the sort of professional body you would want.

I am already enjoying the professional support via the CPD articles and PJ online. I look forward to a society which can concern itself with my development. I have not always enjoyed the politicking in the past. I haven't enjoyed so much change all at once for our profession but I came into it to help people and I want to do that but I also want a society that will stand up for our profession and protect our working environment. I am prepared to give the society a chance.

As it says in the title....this whole thing is pointless and a huge waste of money as is the RPSGB. At a time when we are all struggling financially the last thing we need is another daft "club" to throw valuable money at. Just a money pit. Forget the RPSGB, forget the council....we are all on our own no matter what. There is and there will always be NO-ONE to speak up for us and listen to our issues. This is why there are so many Pharmacy workers leaving.

I think deregulation offers the chance for a fresh start for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society via its Assembly and particularly the national Pharmacy Boards. I like what I've seen so far and think the new incarnation of the Society will do everything it can to support pharmacists and promote the profession. I think we owe it to ourselves and our profession to ensure that we have a strong, united professional body to represent us.

I voted still unsure as at date I am still unconvinced of why I should pay this money to a body which I don't really see the benefit of. I would rather spend the money on a good union able to help me in possible legal trouble and professional queries.
I would appreciate having the choice of NOT receiving a paper version of the PJ as I read it online. This will save paper and perhaps decrease the cost?
As for the title I never used it just like the Dr title that only my Mother uses!

I shall be remaining a member of the RPS because what I am looking for is a body to promote the professional role of the pharmacist. I also belong to a union but that is to cover work related issues rather than professional development. The RPS is recognised by the other healthcare professions and other organisations already so I see value in developing this reputation rather than starting from scratch. If pharmacists don't see the point in belonging to a professional body then they don't need to as they aren't likely to be contributing to forwarding the reputation of the profession. It's as much about putting something in as getting something out and I'm very happy to continue doing my bit.
