Intrinsa
Intrinsa (testosterone) transdermal patch 300µg is currently being supplied as an unlicensed medicine by HFA Healthcare following a decision by Warners Chilcott to cancel the marketing authorisation for commercial reasons. HFA has secured the manufacture of further batches and is now in discussion with the European regulatory authorities to relicense Intrinsa. It is expected that this process will take around 12 months.

Loratadine and loperamide
The pack size of loratadine tablets 10mg available on the general sale list has increased from 14 to 20. In addition, the maximum pack size of loperamide tablets 2mg, available on the general sale list, has been increased from six to 12.
Lucentis
Novartis is switching from Becton & Dickinson to B. Braun as supplier of the injection needle provided in packs of Lucentis (ranibizumab). A difference in appearance of the injection needle and its outer packaging may be noticed. There will be no other changes to the Lucentis pack.

Pfizer is introducing a “needle trap” safety device to Fragmin (dalteparin sodium) prefilled syringes with effect from 14 January 2013. Intrinsa
Intrinsa (testosterone) patch 300µg no longer has a licence, following the marketing authorisation holder’s decision to cancel it for commercial reasons. The remaining stock has been bought by HFA Healthcare and will be available on a named patient basis from distributors Movianto. The company expects the stock to last for a year.
Mesren
The name and packaging of Mesren MR (mesalazine; Tillotts Pharma) tablets 400mg is changing and will be called Octasa MR tablets 400mg. Supply of the Mesren branded product will discontinue after 31 December 2012, to be replaced with the Octasa branded product. The appearance and composition of the tablet will remain unchanged.

Epanutin (phenytoin sodium) capsules are now marketed and distributed by Flynn Pharma, which will distribute the product as Phenytoin Sodium Flynn hard capsules. Pfizer has discontinued the manufacture and marketing of Epanutin capsules.
