Tributes

NITIN SODHA writes: My dear colleague and friend John Nicholas Logan passed away on 10 July 2010 at the age of 73. He made a lasting impact on all those who met him.

He was born near Manchester and qualified from the then Bradford College in 1959. He joined the merchant navy and worked as a pharmacist assisting the ship’s doctor.

He married Myra in 1965 and worked for the Co-op in Cheltenham, followed by Allen & Hanburys and Savory & Moore in Redditch and Evesham. In later years he worked for Linthorns, Birmingham and Knights, Redditch.

There are few people I have met who had such modesty. I only recently discovered that not only was John a member of Mensa, but so were all his three children. He was a dedicated community pharmacist right until he retired in 2008 and was much loved by his staff and the community.

I remember once meeting him at a Christmas party and admiring his tie. He said he could not stay long as he was visiting somebody who was ill. However, typically he left the tie for me.

He was a perfect gentleman, of high integrity and most of all humble and unassuming. He leaves his wife Myra and children Kevin, Elaine and Andrew.
