What the RPS offers preregistration trainees

The preregistration trainee programme is overseen by the General Pharmaceutical Council and is one of the most important years of a pharmacist’s career. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society supports students through their training, to ensure they have all the tools needed to make the year go as smoothly as possible.

So if you know a trainee who is not yet a member let him or her know what the Society provides for preregistration trainees:

• A helpline for advice, support and guidance around professional practice as well as the decision-making processes surrounding legal and ethical issues associated with day-to-day pharmacy practice

• A dedicated network for preregistration trainees so they can find out how others are getting on with their preregistration year, share experiences and develop their own support network

• Local support and networking through local practice forums

• Professional standards and guidance

• Support tools, including professional support bulletins, support elerts, e-News and Today’s Headlines

• A mentoring service that allows trainees to benefit from the support and guidance of more experienced colleagues through a variety of approaches to mentoring

• TP ONtrack (an essential preregistration examination online revision tool)

• Copies of The Pharmaceutical Journal and access to PJ Online

• Access to the ‘Medicines, Ethics and Practice’ (online and in print)

• Online access to the electronic database of the classification of medicines

• Online access to journals and databases through the Society’s electronic library resources

• Audit support and audit templates

• Research support

• Access to the RPS “Map of evidence”
