The United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) has become the first Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) affiliated partner group to be granted a double accreditation by the RPS, meaning the UKCPA is now an accredited Faculty Training Provider and Foundation Training Provider.

In order to achieve the accreditation, the UKCPA had to demonstrate that their training and development provisions aligned with the RPS standards for quality and content and were sufficient to support pharmacists in their professional development at all stages of their careers.

“To achieve recognition from our professional body through accreditation status is a significant and historic moment for the association and for all individuals who have contributed to its success over its 35 year history,” says Ann Page, chair of the UKCPA. “We are committed, more than ever, to maintain our reputation and to remain in the vanguard of the development of our pharmacy workforce.”

“This is a recognition of the quality of the clinical training and development [UKCPA] deliver across the board,” says Catherine Duggan, RPS director for professional development and support. “As ever, the UKCPA are pioneers among the affiliated partners, being the first affiliated group to achieve this. We look forward to many others applying too. Through our affiliations, we will ensure that clinical expertise and support is available for all our members.”
